Position Summary:
The Telehealth Nurse working in Addiction Medicine is responsible for providing safe and compassionate care to all BrightView patients. The position works directly with patients in need of support through the ongoing process of recovery through medically assisted treatment (MAT).  Direct patient care includes but is not limited to the administration and/or dispensing of medications per prescriber’s order, continuous assessment, and symptom management throughout the ambulatory detox process in a variety of settings, collection of laboratory testing, reporting, and documentation, ongoing education related to disease processes, medication management, and infection control topics, care coordination, case management and medical referrals. The Nurse ensures accuracy and completeness of patient care documentation including, physician orders, medication administration and scheduling. The Nurse will ensure the highest quality of care is provided, provide efficient patient flow, and provide crisis intervention as needed. Monday to Saturday scheduling, with shift ending once patient care is complete. Six major holidays off (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving & Christmas). Position subject to weekend virtual on-call as needed.

Essential Job Duties:
Medication Management/ Administration
Administers/dispenses medication according to accepted nursing practice guidelines
Administration of injections
Manages patient medication prescriptions and drug administration
Maintains medication inventories
Monitors medication inventory and reports discrepancies to charge nurse
Reconciles inventory of medications daily
Patient Care Activities
Performs initial inductions and conducts medical/psychosocial/addiction/laboratory/drug screens/medication services
Conducts assessments by obtaining UDS/COWS/CIWAS/Vital signs/health histories
Monitors vital signs for dose changes
Observes patients dosing, records significant reactions/conditions, and provides appropriate notification of adverse events  
Case management and referrals to other levels of care, i.e., medical/dental/infectious disease/discharge planning
Provides patient education related to treatments/procedures/infection control and health and safety policies to patients
Coordinates guest medication dosing
Provides patient care in both office and virtual settings
Documentation/Medical Record Charting
Signs and processes physician orders, including phase change requests per policy/physician orders
Enters notes in the EMR and inputs flags as per physician orders
Prints daily reports and ensures accuracy of information contained therein
Prints, signs, and files monthly medication record; files all paperwork appropriately
Contributes to treatment plans and nursing notes
Complete documentation utilizing the agency’s designated Electronic Medical Record
Schedules appointments and documents no-shows in system
Complies with the BrightView Infection Control plan and educates patients and staff accordingly
Generalized daily cleaning of medication/dispensing and all other patient care areas
Participate in staff outreach, off-site health care programs, peer review, quality assurance, treatment team and regular medical meetings, and other clinical meetings as designated
Ensures confidentiality in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
Proficient with State Licensure Standards, CARF Standards, 42 CFR and HIPAA standards and Company policies
Maintains flexibility in provision of nursing services and role, travels between different locations as needed
A productivity rate is required (TBD) with Telehealth options available to meet goals
Reports to Charge Nurse/Nurse Manager/Director of Nursing
Other duties as assigned

Required Education/Degree:

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)   

   
Required Certification/License:

Registered Nurse (RN)

Required Work Experience:

A minimum of one year of nursing experience is preferred, ideally in a drug and alcohol or psychiatric setting.

  • Provide interventions, treatments and utilize evidence-based therapy.

  • Attend required meetings including individual and group supervision, treatment team meeting, and quarterly in-service.
