Laboratory Scientist I
Overview
This role is for a Laboratory Scientist. In addition to preparing and analyzing toxicology samples, the Laboratory Scientist I is responsible for preparing and running samples on Immunoassay Units, troubleshooting methods and equipment and preparing data for review.
Responsibilities
- Prepare samples for analysis
- Set up and run analytical instruments including system suitability, calibration, and QC.
- Monitor performance of analytical instruments
- Process data, accept and certify results
- Train and supervise new staff
- Organize work and equipment across team for best efficiency
- Perform advanced instrument troubleshooting and repairs
- Participate in the implementation of new equipment & methods including installation and validation
- Make calibration, QC and other solutions
- Maintain compliance documentation
- Participate in housekeeping and other general tasks
- Demonstrate and promote Brightview values
- Observe and promote safety practices
- Be a team player and maintain a positive attitude towards work
Skills & Qualifications
College degree in chemistry or related science: BS/BA
- Working knowledge of instrument and LIS software platforms (LabSolutions, SLS, etc.)
- Working knowledge of analytical instruments (Shimadzu 8040 LCMS, Synermed IR1200, etc)
- Proven experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Troubleshooting and repair/maintenance of LCMS equipment.
- Operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of robotic sample preparation equipment
- Staff supervision and management
- Clear communication
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Flexibility to adjust to changing schedules and tasks
- Ability to use micropipetors and other laboratory equipment
- Comfort with working with human urine and other biological matrices
