Position Summary:  

The State Nursing Director is a driven, visible, hands-on leader who leads a team of Nursing Leaders as well as Patient Care Staff. This key leader serves as a subject-matter expert and collaborator on nursing services with the VP of Operations for the respective geographic territory. This leader is responsible for nursing practice and patient care operations in collaboration with our multidisciplinary leadership team. Oversight includes nursing practice, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, resource management and other operational accountabilities. 

 This engaged Nursing leader is charged with ensuring the provision of quality nursing care to patients by engaging staff in professional development, enforcing best practices in collaboration with our nurse educators, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality training, oversight and support. The State Nursing Director accountable to the Chief Nursing officer works collaboratively with Medical leadership, Operations, Regulatory and Compliance.  

Essential Job Duties:   

Responsible for the overall clinical quality and nursing operations 

  • Leads nursing operations and performance across assigned state(s)  

  • In collaboration with other key stakeholders develops and implements a strategic plan for nursing services across assigned state(s) to advance organizational mission, vision, and values.  

  • Provides direction and support to Regional Directors and nursing leaders. 

  • Responsible for human resource management of staff across State(s) 

  • Ensures staff compliance in areas of job requirements, education and clinical competency. 

  • Provides direction and accountability for staff management across State and Region in collaborations with Operations leaders.  

  • Provides leadership in team building and conflict management. 

  • Accountable for program growth, planning, expansion and geographical growth 

  • Ensures high-fidelity delivery of BrightView’s expected nursing programming, including the achievement of nursing quality KPIs, across the respective geographic territory.  

  • Responsible for the cohesive, high-fidelity implementation of BrightView’s care delivery programming model.  

  • Partners in strategy development for generating revenue opportunities for the assigned state(s), cost-effective management of resources.  

  • Partners in planning for expansion initiatives 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for comprehensive geographical growth. 

  • In collaboration with MD & Education partners, advances the development and delivery of high quality, evidence-based care 

  • In partnership with Nursing, Clinical and Medical Education provides strategic direction to development and evolution of clinical programs and tools. 

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and advancement of nursing practice to improve the quality of patient care and/or services. 

  • Ensures and audits appropriate use of evidence-based treatment approaches.   

  • Responsible for compliance with external regulatory agencies 

  • Ensures compliance with organizational policies and procedures, in compliance with the standards of county, state, and federal regulatory agencies.  

  • Collaborates with BrightView’s Compliance team in providing training and development in response to plans of correction, to ensure adherence to county, state, and federal statutes.   

  • Participates and attends events, activities, and/or training to enhance BrightView’s presence.  

  • Requires regular travel to BrightView centers to provide in-person training and oversight.  

  • Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates the quality improvement initiatives. 

  • Other duties as assigned.  

  

Skills & Qualifications

Qualifications:   

  • Knowledge of recovery, mental health, and other co-occurring disorders.   

  • Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.   

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a positive collaborative relationship among staff.  

  • Management and leadership experience.  

  • Excellence in working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.  

 Required Education/Degree:  

Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. If a master's degree is in nursing or healthcare, bachelor's degree in other area of study will be accepted.   

Required Certification/License:  

State Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)  

Required Work Experience:   

Five + years’ relevant work experience, at least one of which in a formal leadership role.
